Soft bags designed with purpose

Perfect is good enough.

Since his early years in adventure racing Jay Petervary has always "nerded out" on being a tinkerer, maker, and modifier of gear. After a decade-long adventure racing stint, in 2007 Jay showed up at the Great Divide Race, now Tour Divide, with the first full soft bag "bikepacking" system from Jeff Boatman (Carousel Designs) that the race and public had seen. After that ride Jay came back with a few ideas that were immediately brought into the next iteration of bags Jeff was making. Other manufactures still use that design today.

Jay loves the small and simple details of bags that make riding long distances easier, even if ever so slightly. Jay says perfect is good enough.

Since that first use of soft bags Jay has influenced many features, designs, and even ways of using different bags. He has worked with both big and small bag manufacturers. He has tested prototypes and commissioned one-off custom pieces. All of this was driven from his passion for gear but also his relentless pursuit of incremental gains over thousands of miles.

Jay has also helped make racks cool again in racing - although he says it's just because the function is better. Oh, and one of his bags coupled with a Tailfin Rack weighs the same weight as many large seatbags.

Through all of this, he has found his favorite piece of kit, which he now offers to the public: the J-Bag.

INTRODUCING

The J-Bag

J-Bag

The J-Bag is designed to be mounted on any rear rack, but now has a headtube strap loop so it can also be used as a front roll by itself or mounted on one of the many different handlebar bracket accessory mounts or harness systems that are available.

J-Bag XL

Designed to be mounted on any rear rack, the J-Bag XL is more of a 3-season size bag. With nearly double the capacity of the J-Bag, the XL can fit more of the layers and snacks you need to hit the trail.
